The Baltimore Wooden Boat Festival is a real treat for sailors and boat lovers alike and this years promises to be another great event. The festival is a celebration of the traditional timber sailing boats of Ireland and includes a number of races and talks that will showcase traditional Irish wooden boats.
The aim of the festival is to encourage the appreciation and celebration of the tradition of wooden boat building. Ireland has a long history of boat building from early hide covered boats of our first ancestors, to the iconic Currach and Galway Hooker.
What makes this festival even more exciting is it’s run in conjunction with the Baltimore Seafood Festival so there will be plenty of the best food and drink Baltimore has to offer! Food tents will line the pier serving up some of west Cork’s finest fish and local produce.
